We were commissioned to design and supply three different elements an East London Eco-Conference Facility, Restaurant, and Community Courtyard.

Eco-Conference Facility
The largest element in the commission. We designed and fabricated chairs, armchairs, tables and cabinets. The design of the collection references both traditional wood working methods and modern detailing achieved by calculated digital manufacturing.

The chair and armchair are milled from solid ash. The back rests are rolled metal parts clad in a thick, warm natural felt. All metal details, fixtures and fittings are powder coated in a striking sulphur yellow. The table’s have a solid ash frame with removable linoleum clad tops in a range of sizes and colours. They can be arranged in a number of shape and colour configurations depending on the requirements of the space.

Community Courtyard designed with Sam Johnson
We designed and produced a range of furniture for the courtyard, including stools, benches and tables. Taking a lead from Enzo Mari’s Autoprogettazione project, the courtyard furniture was built on the principles of bracing, battening and structural transparency. Each joint and junction is highlighted by brightly coloured washers. The furniture is made from Recycled Mixed Plastic Lumber, a material exclusively manufactured in Britain using only British waste plastics that would otherwise be sent to landfill.

Restaurant
We provided two types of dining table for the canal side dining area of the restaurant. For the outdoor furniture table tops we used a recycled plastic terrazzo made from yogurt pots and coffee machine vending cups.

Production
The entire commission was produced in our East London workshops and where possible we worked with local suppliers and manufacturers, using natural materials from sustainable sources.
