I am a senior designer, researcher and strategist with over 15 years experience in the fields of product, service and interaction design. Applying a user-centered and creative approach, I work with business and organisations to design and develop new products, services and experiences.
For the past 6+ years I have focussed on user research, strategy and designing products, services and experiences across a diverse range of industries including tourism, food and beverage, airline, legal services, media and personal computing. My background is in product, spatial and interaction design.

Design Lead at Thoughtfull Design. I'm currently based in Auckland, New Zealand, primarily doing lots of interesting work with strategic design consultants Thoughtfull Design.

Previously
Service Design Lead at NZTE. As Service Design Lead at NZTE, my role was to establish and lead service design projects, from gathering insight through to ideation, prototyping, testing, refinement and implementation. In addition to developing services for NZ exporters, I lead an number of internal strategy and innovation projects. (2013-2015)

Strategic Research Lead at Native Design London. I led projects across service, product and digital design. I was responsible for planning and conducting wide ranging research activity and its integration into immersion and creative direction. Native Design creates exquisite, experience design for the world's most successful companies and brands, specialising in design, strategy and innovation.
Clients included: Coloplast, Pernod Ricard, HP, Microsoft and Bowers and Wilkins. (2009-2013)

Founder Richard Shed Studio. Established in 2002 and up until a few years ago, my practice provided consultancy, design and realisation of products and spaces for a range of global clients. Our approach was conceptually and technically innovative.
